The interest of the NivachronTM hairspring proposed by Tissot

First of all, what is a hairspring? Well, quite simply, it's probably the most important part in an automatic mechanism!

Indeed, this sort of spinning top composed of an internal spring is the regulating component of the mechanism. In other words, it is the hairspring that will give the mechanism the precise operating speed so that ultimately your indicated time is correct.

However, a magnetic field can disturb the ultra-thin spring of this key piece by changing its physical properties and therefore significantly altering the precision of the watch.

The Nivachron hairspring is manufactured in the traditional manner but using a non-magnetic titanium-based compensating alloy. A Nivachron™ balance spring is considered to be much more resistant and insensitive to magnetic fields than standard hairsprings.

All Tissot watches equipped with the Powermatic80 are also equipped with a Nivachron siral!
